The IPChain Association was created in 2017. The founders of the Association were the Foundation for Development of the Center for Development and Commercialization of New Technologies (Skolkovo Foundation), the All-Russian Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the Higher School of Economics, the Russian Union of Rightsholders (RSP), the Saint Petersburg National Research University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics, the Russian Author's Society (RAO), the Association of Rightsholders for the Protection and Management of Copyright in Art (UPRAVIS) and the New Century Bank.
The main task of the association is the realization of the IPChain project, aimed at the formation of the international network of intellectual property transactions. Leading representatives of the IP sphere take an active part in the development of the "trust infrastructure” network.
Partners of the Association and direct participants of the IPChain project are the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, the Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent), the Federal Institute of Industrial Property, the Intellectual Property Court (IPC). The Association is an official partner of the Skolkovo Foundation. The international IPChain project is a unified solution for the intellectual property sphere. It opens the possibility of cooperation with the widest range of representatives from different sectors of economy.
IPChain Association is an official member of the Hyperledger global blockchain consortium, created by the Linux Foundation to promote cross-industry blockchain technologies.
In June 2021, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree to create the Russian Center for the Circulation of Rights to the Results of Creative Activity, public and state organization. The functions of the center will include support of connection to IPChain infrastructure of corporate and public services and platforms belonging to private companies and companies with state participation.
