The schools offer students the opportunity to learn how to create projects at the intersection of art and digital technology. Some main areas of study include audio engineering, electronic music production, photo and video production, animation and 3D graphics, design and interactive digital technologies. Courses will be offered as part of 2-year and longer programs. The initiative was implemented within the framework of Russia’s "Invented in Russia" federal project.
As part of the initiative, additional schools are also planned to open in Ulyanovsk, Omsk, Novosibirsk, Kaluga, Vladimir, Kursk, Saratov, Voronezh, Orenburg regions, Kuzbass, Transbaikal, Krasnodar, Krasnoyarsk territories, the Karachaevo-Cherkess and Kalmyk Republics. The schools are integrated with institutes and colleges of culture and arts, music and art schools, creativity hubs, academies and methodological centers.
Starting from 2022, regions will receive subsidies from the federal budget to create such schools. The necessary changes for this initiative have been made to the "Development of Culture" state program and approved by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
Regions that receive federal subsidies for the creation of such schools are determined by the Russia’s Ministry of Culture on the basis of competitive selection. State support is provided for the purchase, delivery and installation of equipment and facilities. The rest of the expenses will be covered by the regions and the educational organizations themselves.
