Russia’s Federal Tax Service to Gain Access to Blockchain-Based Copyright Ledger

In 2022, the Russian government is set to create ”white lists" that will allow works by copyright holders to appear in search results above their pirated versions.

On August 12, the Coordination Council of the "Russian Center of Circulation of Rights for the Results of Creative Activities" (RCIS) all-Russian public organization held a meeting. It approved the road map for 2022-2024, which defines a plan for the transformation of the intellectual property industry.

The first section of the road map is dedicated to the establishment and fixation of rights to the results of creative activities. Currently, the catalogs are incomplete, scattered and accessible to varying degrees. The IPChain digital infrastructure, operated by RCIS, can help solve this problem. It will gather and consolidate the data for intellectual property items from various Russian agencies — Rospatent, Rosstandart, the Intellectual Property Court, Skolkovo, CMOs and the largest domestic media holdings.
